Despite single digit unemployment rates for San Diego County workers, those with developmental or intellectual disabilities have historically had unemployment rates of 86%. Community colleges and other postsecondary options usually do not offer vocational training with the ratios and pacing needed to help these capable jobseekers learn the skills they need to reach their potential. Beacons, Inc. developed vocational training workshops in the areas of Creative Design, Customer Service, Entrepreneurial Skills, and Office Skills so that these individuals can launch careers in areas they are interested in.
